On Friday, June 28th, ALIVE Credit Union hosted the first public market for the SHE women’s empowerment group. The event showcased handmade crafts and Syrian baked goods created by women in the SHE program at Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida (LSS).
ALIVE Credit Union played a crucial role in supporting this initiative, reflecting their ongoing commitment to LSS programs. Their efforts include hosting a financial literacy workshop for refugee youth and served as a presenting sponsor for LSS's monthly resource fair.
The SHE (Social, Healing and Empowerment) program focuses on empowering women by fostering skills development and entrepreneurial spirit. At the market, participants not only displayed their creations but also took charge of organizing and managing the event.
Community support was evident as visitors engaged with the vendors and made purchases, contributing to the success of the market and highlighting the impact of local partnerships in empowering individuals.
Looking ahead, LSS plans to host more events that celebrate community spirit and support programs like SHE. To learn more about the SHE program or get involved, visit lssjax.org/she.
