LSS volunteer Jahan Oza, 7, will receive an international youth service award for his work supporting refugee children.
The International ‘We Serve’ Foundation will present the “Youth Volunteer Award” to Jahan on January 26th at 8 a.m. via Zoom.
The organization collaborates with individuals and organizations to bring progress in education, healthcare, communication, governance, skill improvement, entrepreneurism, and employment for better quality of life in each country and its constituents.
Jahan’s project began in 2021 when he learned about refugees on the Big Life Kids Podcast. The episode inspired him to help children of refugee families. Jahan and his mother, Neetal, put together care packages filled with school supplies and toys for 17 Afghan refugee families.
Inspired to help again, Jahan undertook a bigger project of creating similar care packages. This time, for Ukrainian refugee families.
Jahan and Neetal delivered 50 holiday care packages at LSS to distribute to Ukrainian families. The families were so grateful for the gifts. LSS is thankful to connect Jahan’s family with the opportunity to give back. Read his story here.
