Refugee Resettlement: LSSNEFL Director, Jax leaders present at Donors Forum of Northeast Florida

As of 2022, there were 103 million displaced persons around the world – this is a larger population than any single European nation. In the February Donors Forum, leaders discussed Refugee Resettlement in Northeast Florida.

Dr. Leslie Kaplan, Director of the Hicks Honors College at University of North Florida, presented an overview of refugee resettlement on a global, regional, and local level. Guest panelists included: Laura Cook, Director of Refugee Resettlement Programs for Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida; Hellai Noorzai, Refugee Resettlement Program Manager, Catholic Charities; Lori Chelf, Co-founder of Beyond 90; and Basma Alawee, Founder of WeaveTales.

The Donors Forum of Northeast Florida works to promote and strengthen philanthropy in our region by inspiring individual philanthropists, donors, and foundations to:

In addition to our fundholders, The Donors Forum is comprised of representatives of private, corporate, independent, and family foundations in Northeast Florida. Members meet at least quarterly to learn about regional programs of philanthropic interest, discuss issues of mutual concern, and learn about collaborative opportunities.
