AIDS Care & Education Program
The AIDS Care and Education (ACE) Program was established in 1992 to provide assistance to people and families who are HIV-positive or living with AIDS. The goal of the program is to improve the quality of life and health for those who are living with HIV and empower them to become active in their care decisions.
Case managers help to secure access to services for clients which may include medical and dental care, food stamps, emergency food and clothing, housing assistance, substance abuse treatment, mental health services, furnishings, legal assistance, support groups, educational materials, job placement, vocational rehabilitation, GED and continued education.
Some of those services are received through the Ryan White and Medicaid Waiver Case Management, Ryan White Mental Health Program, and Ryan White HOPWA and Shared Housing Program.
The program is under the direction of Heather Vaughan and has 11 employees who provide services to more than 800 clients annually. Clients include people living in rural areas, single women, women with children, men, racial/ethnic minorities and communities of color, the homeless, gay, lesbian and bisexual adults, incarcerated persons, people in need of mental health counseling, injection drug users and other substance abuse users. Clients range in age from 19 years old to over 65.
