Qualifications: A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; experience in refugee case management, multi-lingual preferred or the ability to speak another language(s) of target client population preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for organizing the work of diverse volunteers, including large groups, in a warehouse environment. The person will report to the Manager of Community Engagement to encourage and maintain Second Harvest as a leading opportunity for service in our community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
DUTIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO
- Operations
- Learn and support warehouse operations, including the receiving, storage, and staging of multiple food products.
- Anticipate the needs of warehouse operations and plan volunteer projects accordingly.
- Notify appropriate staff when supplies are low and need to be ordered or pulled out.
- Consistently maintain clean and organized warehouse stations.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure that volunteers are utilized effectively.
- Match volunteers to appropriate warehouse projects depending on ages, strengths, and number of volunteers.
- Volunteer Coordination
- Provide friendly and professional support to current and potential volunteers.
- Build and maintain relationships with volunteers.
- Identify volunteer specific projects in conjunction with staff.
- Communicate with staff of volunteer scheduling, needs, and expectations.
- Conduct orientations and tours for new volunteers.
- Speak to volunteer groups about Second Harvest mission.
- Demonstrate regular attendance and punctuality to ensure volunteer coverage.
- Food Drives
- Assist Manager of Community Engagement in setting up community food drives.
- Work with warehouse/operations staff for timely delivery and pick-up of barrels/information.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or GED is required. Experience working in warehouse environment, logistics or related experience is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend policies, procedures and instructions. Ability to write memos and reports.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals as well as calculate percentages, averages and rate or interpret graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and develop alternative solutions; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form; and the ability to consider short and long term impacts of decisions.
ENVIRONMENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, communicate, and listen. The volunteer coordinator is expected to spend 95% of their workday on the warehouse floor. This position requires high energy and willingness to engage in sustained physical activity. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 30-50 pounds. A valid Florida driver’s license and own transportation is required to travel to various locations in north Florida area. The office environment is generally quiet, outside varies depending on conditions.
SCHEDULE
This position is full-time. The volunteer coordinator works each Saturday with the volunteer groups registered. Hours are adjusted weekly to meet the needs of the organization.
