Ticket sales from Nationwide Tour event will benefit LSS
A new stop on the Nationwide Tour is coming to Ponte Vedra Beach and the TPC at Sawgrass Oct. 18-24 with all ticket sales benefiting local charities, including Lutheran Social Services. The Nationwide Tour – which is a feeder tour to the PGA Tour – will make its debut on the First Coast in the form of the Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open. Tickets to the event are $25 for the entire week with 100 percent of the money spent on tickets going toward the participating local non-profit organization of each fan’s choice. MORE

LSS Appreciation Event
Lutheran Social Services will recognize members of the community who have worked with any of the agency's four programs at a very special Appreciation Event on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., in The Haskell Building, 111 Riverside Avenue. The staff of Second Harvest North Florida, Refugee & Immigration Services (RIS) and AIDS Care & Education (ACE) could not provide the services on which the people they help depend without the many volunteers who have been willing to spend hours of their time and to share their skills. In addition, wholesalers, distributors and retailers who donate their surplus food for Second Harvest to feed hungry people and local employers who hire refugees newly resettled through the RIS Program will be recognized.
