JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 5, 2008) - Children throughout the world are in need of loving homes, and Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida (LSS) now offers International Adoption Services to all qualified prospective parents, regardless of faith.
A presentation by LSS on how the agency can help families facilitate their next addition will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1415 S. McDuff Ave., Jacksonville FL 32205, on Thursday, May 8, 2008, at 6 p.m.
Kelsea Eckert, LSS international adoption coordinator, will describe the international adoption process. A local family will share their story about adopting three international children, with a fourth adoption underway as well.
LSS is a member of the Lutheran Adoption and Foster Care Alliance (LAN). LAN is a national collaboration of 30 Lutheran social ministry organizations that are active in international adoptions and who are members of Lutheran Services in America. As a whole, LAN member agencies place thousands of children in caring adoptive homes each year.
As a direct-service agency, LSS is the only licensed international adoption agency in the 11 counties that make up Northeast Florida and the only member agency of LAN operating in the state of Florida. Due to its affiliation with LAN, LSS is able to help prospective parents adopt children from such countries as: China, Colombia, Guatemala, Mongolia, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and Vietnam.
Anyone interested in international adoptions is invited to attend these presentations, which are free and open to the general public. An additional presentation will be held at Lutheran Social Services, 4615 Philips Highway, Jacksonville, FL 32207, on Thursday, June 3, 2008, at 6 p.m.
